Burbank, California Apr 12, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - Dream Hustle Code is thrilled to join forces with a remarkable LAUSD school that consistently prioritizes the needs of its students.
Burbank, California boasts the highest per capita concentration of animation and production studios anywhere in the world. It's only natural that this hotbed of creativity is having a ripple effect on its neighboring areas.
One such neighbor, Valley Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (VOCES), is on the cusp of creating a new pipeline for creativity in the Gaming and Esports Production spaces. Quietly yet effectively, VOCES is drawing talent and programming from across California and even as far as Chicago, Illinois. Their objective is to establish a pioneering, model school that nurtures the inherent creative brilliance of its predominantly under-represented student body, while equipping them for prosperous careers in Technology, Film Production, Gaming, and Esports Production.
VOCES' initial launch was temporarily put on hold due to the pandemic, leading to a brief pause in enrollment. Now, with the renewed leadership of Principal Holodnaks vitality and enthusiasm, VOCES is rebounding and ramping up enrollment by adopting innovative approaches and fully committing to the incorporation of non-traditional educational programs, resources, and experiences. She has partnered with Kimberly Wright, the Director of the Los Angeles Unified Black Student Achievement Program to bring a STEAM Saturday Program to VOCES.
Principal Holodnak believes that by fostering our students' passion for technology and innovation, VOCES will empower students to become creators rather than just consumers of technology. Through hands-on experiences, students will learn how to code, create, and design games, collaborate effectively, think critically, and solve complex problems. VOCES STEAM program seeks to inspire the next generation of innovators and student leaders who will drive progress and shape the future of technology.
In VOCES' pursuit to establish a unique, forward-thinking educational institution, they have engaged the expertise of Principal Amen Rahh, a Los Angeles native and the force behind the Knowlej Project. They are further bolstered by the presence of Jeff Ivory's GamerXSociety. Not to be overlooked is the contribution of 19-year-old Thiel Fellow, Ian Brock from Chicago, who brings his Dream Hustle Code® and New Nerd programming to the table. This collaborative effort promises to shape a school that is truly one-of-a-kind and future-focused.
This SATURDAY, APRIL 13, 2024 is their culminating STEAM workshop for the many students of LAUSD. VOCES is located at 9171 Telfair Ave in Sun Valley.
